How it Started

Sacred Remembrance Women’s Healing Retreats were created from a shared recognition that many healing spaces lack culturally responsive, trauma informed care where women feel truly seen, safe, and supported.

Founded through the collaboration of Comfort Dondo and Stacey Constante, this work brings together lived experience, professional leadership, and ancestral wisdom. Both women know firsthand what it means to walk a path of healing trauma, and through their own journeys, have committed to holding intentional, culturally grounded spaces for women navigating similar experiences.

Comfort, founder of Phumulani, supports survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence within African refugee and immigrant communities and understands the necessity of healing environments rooted in safety, dignity, and cultural reverence.

Stacey, founder of The Nourished Goddess, centers her work on womb health and whole body wellbeing, addressing trauma and intergenerational trauma through ancient herbs, traditional ceremonies, and womb centered care that bridges ancestral knowledge with modern women’s health.

Meeting Stacey at a retreat in Ecuador, Comfort recognized reflections of her African roots within indigenous ceremonies, revealing what was missing elsewhere, healing spaces where the body is honored, culture is respected, and community extends beyond the retreat.

Together, they created trauma informed retreats rooted in womb and menstrual health, cultural wisdom, and collective care, designed to support marginalized women while welcoming all who feel called to heal in sisterhood.
